Garden Additions…

My garden is my haven…
Usually I’m out there from about 6am in my pyjamas; digging or pruning…or just looking.
It always amazes me, and is the inspiration behind most of the flower arrangements on the 5ftinf Table.
So, I thought I’d use my blog to share my garden as well as my table…

This Echium is currently about 12ft high and completely swarming with bees…

The Dog Rose is incredibly pretty, but really has to be tamed in a small garden…

Paeonys are so theatrical… I moved this one about 3 years ago, which they really don’t like, and today I found it hiding behind an overpowering Japanese Anenome. I cleared a little space to liberate this year’s performance…

Quaking Grass has wonderful texture and delicate movement, but it has gone completely crazy recently…it will no doubt be making it’s way to The 5ftinf Table on a regular basis over the Summer!

Beautiful. I followed you over from instagram. Your photos are so beautiful. I’m just starting my garden from scratch at a new home, where we will never have to move again. I’m documenting it too, so that i can look back in it years down the road.

Thank you Elisa…gardening is so therapeutic and it’s always so satisfying to bring a piece of it inside, although they get picked I always like to try and show my respect for their natural beauty. Good luck with your garden…I’ve been here13 years and wish I’d documented more.

I love dog roses – I did not know their name!! – we have them a lot on the road in Alentejo and I call them the egg flowers as they kind of remind me of fried eggs.

Me too! They are massively abundant in my garden but start to choke another older rose, so I have to keep them under control…they always look so pretty inside though, so I don’t feel too guilty!

Just Beautiful. I have been following your lovely photographs of the table for a year now and being a gardener myself I am so excited to venture into your garden and discover where all those beautiful flowers come from. Look forward to seeing more.

Thank you so much! I thought it was about time I shared my dear friend and partner of the Table! I so love being in the garden, which is why I try and bring a piece of it inside every day, even in the Winter. It sort of made sense to open the back door now!

Same for me – the first thing I like to do when I wake up is take a look at the garden and see what has bloomed and how far things have come along. It’s quite therapeutic. I’d love to see more of your garden.

I’ll be posting more of the garden soon…it’s only small and narrow, but I love it!
