11 Aug Tuesday…with Museum Inspiration
I don’t like to plan arrangements; I like to see what I feel like doing when I’m doing it…not styling, feeling…
I’m hugely inspired by textures and basically all sorts of things that get my imagination going.
Today I had to go to London so, as it’s the Summer holidays, thought I’d take my son too and combine it with a trip to a museum… …taking a walk, looking at inspiring walls and metal panels… …but teenagers are not impressed with that stuff; they want to see the dark side of life…so we visited Grant Museum of Zoology…which is not for the faint hearted, but perfect for curious boys… I struggled with the aesthetics of skeletons and all sorts of things in jars…
…there was quite a pretty cabinet full of glass animal ( or rather invertebrate ) sculptures which were amazing and so life like…but I can’t say I liked the glass slugs! But the illuminated cabinet type room full of old microscope slides was completely amazing!…it really reminded me of Space Odyssey
…and then a tiny exhibit of pretty shells stood out, and stayed with me until I got home… …and that’s kind of how it happened when I should have been cooking supper!

Posted at 21:00h, 12 AugustI’ve always loved your arrangements, but this post really made me love them more. I love that you’ve shared your day and what visual inspirations came your way. Those microscope slides are amazing, I agree. Thanks for the great post.

Posted at 11:28h, 13 AugustThank you so much…it’s funny how little things or strange things inspire me…I had no idea that anything in the strange museum would help create an arrangement later!:)
